The Peoples World Championship and The WDC Professional Latin Championships to be rescheduled
It is with great regret that Blackpool Entertainment Company Limited (BECL) and the World Dance Council announce that the 2021 Peoples World Championships and the WDC Professional Latin Championships 2021 will be rescheduled due to yesterday’s announcement from the UK Government and the increased public health concerns linked to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Michael Williams, Managing Director of the Blackpool Dance Festivals and BECL , confirmed: “Following a series of detailed deliberations this is a decision that we have not taken lightly, and we have done so with the highest regard for public health and the wellbeing of all dancers, officials and supporters who were due to attend next week’s events. Following thorough and extensive consideration of all scenarios and the likelihood that the UK Government’s measures will continue for many weeks, it is our view that we must act responsibly to protect the large numbers of people that were due to attend the Championships. Alternative dates in April 2022 are being considered and announcements will follow shortly. In the meantime I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support and understanding”
Mr Donnie Burns, MBE on behalf of the WDC commented: “The horrendous situation with Omricon and UK restrictions both current and potentially imminent have made the cancellation of the Peoples World Championships and so the WDC Pro Latin unavoidable. The thought of children and parents being exposed and/or stranded is not something we could or should risk, we are sure you will all agree”
