WDC Board of Directors confirms cessation of Russian Dance Union (RDU) Membership and Recognition of FDSARR
The World Dance Council (WDC) announces that, at a duly convened meeting of the Board of Directors held on 24 April 2026, a formal resolution concerning the status of representation within the Russian Federation was adopted unanimously.
This decision follows the ruling of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation dated 23 March 2026, ordering the liquidation of the All-Russian Public Organization “Russian Dance Union” (RDU). The Board has determined that this ruling constitutes conclusive legal evidence that the RDU has ceased to exist as an operational and legally recognized entity.
In accordance with the WDC Articles of Association, specifically Article 9.1(c), membership automatically terminates where a member organization is dissolved or ceases to exist. As such, the Board confirmed that the membership of the Russian Dance Union has ceased with immediate effect, by operation of the governing Articles and without the need for further formal action or a vote of the membership.

The designation “Russia” within WDC structures refers to the national membership position, which will now be exercised exclusively by FDSARR though membership in the WDC National Dance Council (NDC) of Russia. - Governance Continuity
