Honorary WDC Vice-President Marcel De Rijk passed away peacefully last night.

The WDC President and Officers, as well as the dance Community at large mourns the death of the WDC Honorary Vice-President

Mr. Marcel De Rijk. Marcel passed away peacefully last night, losing his battle with Leukaemia, leaving a grieving family to whom we send our condolences.

Marcel was not only an Honorary Vice-President, but though his family roots a successful dancer with his sister Ratna, and many times Dutch Champion. His strong roots in and love for Social Dance manifested,

when he became the Chairman of the WDC Social Dance Committee, where he served for many years, also as part of the WDC Board of Directors. He was proposed and elected Honorary Vice-President of the World Dance Council,

when he retired from the post of SDC Chairman.

He co-founded the Dutch Open Championships, which has become one of the premier events in our World of Dance.

The WDC Community again would like to extend his family their sincerest condolences and hope sincerely Marcel has gone to a better place without pain.

Rest in peace Marcel De Rijk.
